Mangas where Villainess and Heroine are Friends!

Heroine is shown for a split second never to be seen again? Not on these mangas! Introducing mangas that actually have interaction between villainess and heroine for an extended period of time!

Tired of Villainess mangas that shows the heroine for a split second only for her to be forgotten until the end of the story? Or the Heroine is a wicked woman who'll try to end the Villainess and BUILD HER OWN HAREM EMPIRE!! You just wanted a manga where the villainess and heroine are friends and spend good times together q.q Lucky for us, they exist! And you'll hear all about them in this article! By "Spending time together" I don't mean in an Yuri way, just regular "spending time" together as friends. So, with that disclaimer out of the way, let's get started!

I'm No Heroine!

In this manga, our protagonist gets reincarnated into the body of Aerinda Maleficent, the villainess of a novel. Thinking she would be able to return back to her own world after she had fulfilled her role as the villainess, she did exactly what Aerinda in the novel originally did, only to be executed and returned back to the time when she reincarnated for the first time. Our protagonist followed the same path again, with some minor adjustments but the ending again, was death. Fed up with all that, she decides to spend her third regression the way she wants to.
The villainess and the heroine in the novel are classmates and roommates and so they spend the majority of the time together. The game does have a bit of "love triangle" which is, well... not for everyone but at the time of writing this article, not much has happened on the first season about this said "triangle" so it's worth a read even if you usually avoid them.

The Villainess is Changing Her Role to a BroCon

Corporate slave Yukimura Rina was reincarnated as the Villainess Ekaterina from an Otome game. In her past life she was obsessed with the brother of the Villainess, Alexei, but seeing him in real life is so much better than in the game! It’s just that, her brother’s upbringing is just so sad that she cries every time she thinks about it! “Okay! I’m going to escape mine, and my country’s destruction flag and make sure everyone lives happily!” With her common sense and knowledge of history she plans on saving her brother and overcoming all the game events.

Just like the first one, the villainess and the heroine are also classmates in this manga. After meeting for the first time, their bond deepens as they find out they have much more common about themselves than what was originally mentioned in the game. The story is indeed quite long, and the pacing is slow, therefore it can get boring sometimes.

Honorable mention:
Everything Was a Mistake

At a young age, Duroa Valrose realises that she’s been reincarnated as the villainess of a novel who is destined to die at the hands of the male protagonist, Nocturne Edgar. Determined to change her fate, she tries to befriend Nocturne, but little does she know that he is the only living black mage who can hear, sense, and even control people’s thoughts and emotions. To Nocturne, Duroa is an enigma. She is the first person that he’s encountered who is not susceptible to his magic, a fact that makes him feel both intrigued and intimidated at the same time. The two form a strained friendship, but Duroa has no idea whether the story is changing for better or worse. Will she be able to rewrite her ending and escape death?

This goes as an honorable mention as the villainess and the heroine, while does get screentime together, the "screen time" is a lot lower than the 2 manga/hwas mentioned on this article. Still, I didn't want it to be left out because they still spend way more higher time together than other villainess mangas out there, with the art being pleasant to look at and the story, while confusing, is a good read.

Mangas where Female Lead is a Fake Saintess!

We've all read stories where the real saintess is banished and the country faces a catastrophic disaster yada yada yada. But what if the protagonist was actually a fake saintess? What if she was banished and she had to live her life with what she has as a fake saintess? This article is going to answer all that. Thence, I present you, the Top 2 Mangas where the protagonist is actually a Fake Saintess!

The Exiled Villainess is Under Surveillance!

Manga called Exiled Villainess Under Surveillance

Syosetu: 追放悪役令嬢、只今監視中

After Momo was acknowledged as the true saintess, Chloe, a saintess candidate was banished for harrassing the now saintess Momo. When everyone feared Chloe will not yield so easily and would try to take revenge on Momo, Chloe's former fiancé Redrio, sent a spy to observe her for any attempts to take revenge on his beloved Momo. However, what awaited them was only bewilderment when the banished ‘Villainess’ finally shows her true colors.

The manga takes place in an otome game where Momo is the heroine and the true saintess and our protagonist Chloe is the villainess of the game. What nobody knows is that Momo and Chloe are both reincarnations, they both know the "original story" and they both try to bend the story to their own will. Chloe wants to avoid being killed, while Momo wants to achieve her own harem empire O.O... yeah. Chloe is considered to be a fake saintess because she was identified by the priests as a saintess when she was a child, and was taken to the temple to undergo saintess training. However, before Momo's coming-of-age ceremony, an oracle was delivered which announced Momo as a saintess candidate. Which as you can already guess, Momo was chosen as the saintess in the end (like the game story). On the romance side of things, Chloe and Locke get into a relationship, and the romantic development between them is paced well. Overall, it's a good fantasy romance story of our fake saintess.

The Real Saintess Arrived, So I Had to Go

This novel does not have a cover art yet

Syosetu: 本物の聖女が現れたのでニセモノのお前はいらないと辺境に追放されました

400 years ago, the saintess disappeared from the country, and along with it, disappeared the art of healing magic. But when everyone was expecting for the arrival of a new saintess, no one appeared for decades. Fearing for the wellbeing of the general public, the king ordered the best wizards of the country to recreate healing magic. Thus, a family of wizards had produced "saintesses" for generations with the approval of the royalty. They could only use weak healing magic, but were still regarded as true saintesses and venerated by the public. Our protagonist Yui was one such "saintess" but when the real saintess appeared for the first time in 400 years, Yui, had to go.
The story is a medieval fantasy slice of life novel, featuring the daily life of our fake saintess Yui at the frontier she was banished to. Managing resources, protecting the border, demon subjugation, healing and curing at the border towns and a whole lot more. The fake saintess stays the fake saintess throughout the entire story because she really is a fake saintess. She is still respected by the public as the fact of her being a fake was never exposed, but rather as a "former saintess" who gave up her position because a more powerful saintess appeared that revolutionized the country. The novel lacks romance, and there are no conflicts between the real saintess in terms of interests or power grab. Overall, it's a slow paced casual novel, one that you might enjoy reading.

Villainess Mangas with Saintess!

Follower of Saintess + Villainess cult! Bless thyself with mangas that have both saintess and villainess!
(づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ

I praise thee for having the same fetish as mee!  You know, There's quite a few villainess mangas where saintesses make their appearance, but it seems like there isn't a single article on the WHOLE internet talking about them? Welp, as a devout follower of the Saintess Villainess cult, I present you, the best villainess + saintess mangas of all time! (with the best storyline). Originally, this article was going to be about "Every Villainess Mangas with Saintess". But after reading around 10 of them, I became pretty sure that it wasn't going to happen. So sit back and enjoy.

To clarify, we are not talking about Villainess Mangas where the Saintess returns as a Villainess. Or Seinen mangas where the Saintess and the Villainess form a Yuri Girl's Love love. This list is about Villainess Mangas where there is a Saintess character present in the story, and the Saintess may or may not be a rival of our villainess female lead. This villainess manga recommendation does list one manga where the saintess is a friend of the villainess, and they have a regular relationship instead of Yuri. With all that disclaimer out of the way for the sake of Google Search messing up this blog post's categorization, let's finally get to the main part!

Previously, I Used to Be a Disqualified Daughter of the Duke

Manga named Disqualified Daughter of the Duke

Original: 元、落ちこぼれ公爵令嬢です
Saintess: Evil & Clever. Destroys the villainess and forces her to flee the country.
Plot Story: Saintess Charlotte is the half sister of our protagonist Claire. Because of Claire's beauty, being betrothed with the Crown Prince Asbert as well as the general public having high expectations for Claire expecting to have high magical powers beneficial for the kingdom, Charlotte was determined to bring her sister down. The story takes place when Charlotte finally succeeds in pinning down Claire and she was forced to flee the country. Originally heading North, Claire regained her memories on the carriage she was travelling on, and with the help of some "strangers" she met, decides to head East to a neighboring kingdom to start a new life.

I know the description was quite short but I can't reveal more because it seems everything I reveal will be a major spoiler lmao.

The Villainess Who Traveled Back in Time Inexplicably Lost Her Magic, so She Went Into Seclusion

Time Travel Manga about a Villainess cover

Original: 逆行した悪役令嬢は、なぜか魔力を失ったので深窓の令嬢になります
Saintess: Kind and Forgiving. Was on bad terms with the Villainess before regression.
Plot Story: Protagonist Rachel was betrothed to the Crown Prince for having one of the highest mana pool in the country. But when the saintess appeared, she felt threatened and tried to harm the saintess using her high magical powers, and thus her engagement was annuled and she was sent to a monastery (instead of being executed after requested by the Saintess to spare her life). Regretting for all she had done, she was determined to atone for her sins in the monastery, however on the way to the monastery, her carriage was attacked by bandits and she was killed.

But then time regressed and she found herself 3 years back, when she was 15, with almost all her magical powers gone. Determined to not follow the same path again, she decides to call off her engagement. But this time, the crown prince doesn't seem to want to break it off?

Since A Saintess is Coming From Another World, I, the Hindrance, Want to Disappear

Manga called Isekai Kara Seijo Ga Kuru You Nanode, Jamamono Kieyou to Omoimasu

Original: 異世界から聖女が来るようなので、邪魔者は消えようと思います
Saintess: Good girl, is on good terms with the protagonist throughout the story.
Plot Story: Our protagonist Felicia was betrothed to the crown prince of a faraway country. But before departing to that country, she regains back her memories and finds out that the world is an otome game and her fiancé is in love with the Saintess from another world and she will be executed at the end. In order to avoid destruction, she decides to break off engagement and live as a commoner selling medicine. Both the Villainess and the Saintess are from Japan and that made them quite relatable with each other. The Villainess has no ill will towards the Saintess and she respects the Saintess and values her higher than herself, as she came from another world but still decided save a country she had no attraction to. Overall, they have a very good relationship and it's a perfect read if you want to read something that isn't super fluffy but also not something with high tension and rivalry at the same time.

Which mangas have both saintess and villainess? I know so many people who asked this question before, but my website, along with a lot of other's get delisted on Google search. Therefore, even when you want to search for something, you'll never even know that my website exists, and it has the exact answer you are looking for. And so, if you have specific questions, and you find my line of articles closely resembling your taste, consider writing down the website name somewhere on your Notepad, or just follow the Twitter account, because websites like us get delisted quite easily and all our efforts just go nil. Nobody realises somebody on the internet had already answered their question before, and they never get their answer. ʕಠ_ಠʔ

Best Unique Villainess Manga Recommendations!

I read 125 villainess mangas and picked the top 3 unique ones for their deep world building and rich storytelling. Yep, there's currently 125 villainess mangas on the market. And I've read basically all of em, thence my review shan't be... 'unpropitious', shall we say?

Love villainess mangas? We love too! But there wasn't a lot of websites covering the best villainess mangas out there, so we decided to make our own. This list includes our top 3 favourite villainess mangas we keep returning to reread for the twenty secondth time! So, without further ado, let's get started!

Since a Saintess is Coming From Another World, I, the Hindrance Want to Disappear

Original: 異世界から聖女が来るようなので、邪魔者は消えようと思います

This manga is very unique because unlike other villainess mangas, here the protagonist tries to run away from the situation altogether. Our protagonist Felicia is married off to the Crown prince of a distant land. Shortly before departing to the foreign land, she regains back her memories and finds out she's a villainess of an otome game and her fiancé is in love with the saintess from another world and she will be executed! Hence, she decides to break off the engagement and live as a commoner.

The story falls onto the wholesome side with a bit of comedy in between. The crown prince is actually in love with Felicia. And the saintess is quite lovable (and on very good terms with our protagonist) and the author did a very good job making the saintess relatable with the protagonist. Overall, it's a cute love story between the Crown prince and our misunderstood protagonist with the story being 99% fluffy.

There Were Times When I Wished You Were Dead

Original: 네가 죽기를 바랄 때가 있었다

Toxic Relationships, Angst, Self-harm, you name it. There's isn't anything you won't find in this manhwa. The protagonist Yvonne is coerced into marrying the emperor of Croisen. The twist, however, is that the father of our beloved protagonist is the sworn enemy of the emperor, thus you guessed it, hatred. The manhwa goes from toxic relationships to "deceiving" to "feeling closer". The author did a good job justifying the actions of the characters in the story and there isn't a lot of plot holes, which usually isn't the case for stories with this level of angst.

The story is mostly centred around misunderstandings, and they give a good sense of tragic enjoyment when the misunderstandings shatter one by one. Overall, it's a good manhwa for people who want to enjoy a bittersweet happiness of misunderstandings and toxic relationships.

Love King and His Ornamental Queen

Original: 嫌われたいの~好色王の妃を全力で回避します

Fluffy manga again. The story is set in a world where Louise, our protagonist is successfully married to the person she loves the most, the King Alphonse. But Alphonse never loved her and over the course of 20 years had gotten himself a harem of 10 concubines, thus earning the name "Love King". Our protagonist, now in her 40s regrets her decision to marry Alphonse and before she knew it, the time rewinded to when she was 16 and still studied ar the Academy! This time around she'll do everything to make sure she doesn't get entangled with Alphonse once again. What everyone doesn't know is that the story is set in an otome game and Louise, our protagonist is the villainess of that said game.

The OG Heroine is dumb and our protagonist is the one messing up OG's meet-cutes and stealing the spotlight. The long strip (or webtoon? it's a Japanese Manhwa/Manhua) is a slice of life envolving Louise having fun with other characters in the game, including both male and female cast. If not for the villainess tag, this long strip could be classified as a slice-of-life manga because the interaction is this wholesome! The story does lack romance and the sad part is that the long strip was discontinued due to issues with the publisher. You will find the novel for free in Syosetu, which has 15 more chapters and fortunately does include some more wholesome moments but that's just it. But I think you'll greatly enjoy the story that has been released so far.

That's it from me! This article was a quite long for me to write. So, I hope you enjoyed it and I'll try to publish some Syosetu exclusive villainess novels next time. Until then, goodbye!

Japanese Education System

In Japan, students spend:

6 years in elementary schools

3 years in junior high schools, and,

3 years in high schools

then additionally 2-3 years of junior colleges or 4 years of college

So, for U.S.A and Australian readers, they're equivalent to

Grade 1 to 6 = Elementary School

Grade 7 to 9 = Junior High School

Grade 10 to 12 = High School

In Japan, they're known as

ELMN 1 to 6 = Elementary School

JHS 1 to 3 = Junior High School

HS 1 to 3 = High School

So, if you want to refer to ELMN and JHS students, use 生徒 (seito)

And, for HS and College / University students, use 学生 (gakusei)

How much does it take to hire a manga artist?

If you want to publish your own manga and you want to hire a Japanese artist, the standard rate across the Japanese manga industry is usually around 6000 JPY - 8000 JPY per page. (or around 40 - 55 USD). That means a typical 30 page manga chapter (excluding the cover art) will cost you around 180,000 - 240,000 JPY (or around 1,225 - 1,633 USD)
Newer firms can have a rate of as low as 4,000 JPY. However the vast majority of these firms are usually comprised of new artists, who are often overworked and underpaid and their art quality will usually be sub-par.

Easiest way to learn Japanese?

If you've already studied a bit of Japanese, you 'd know that Japanese is not phonetically consistent. In dictionaries like Takoboto and Anki decks, can be pronounced as いや. But in the sentence, 私が嫌われているる理由, here is pronounced as きら. Reading words in isolation therefore, can become problematic, especially because just learning one way of pronunciation will not automatically make you be able to pronounce the other one. So, what can you do?

In everyday cases, you can copy-paste a given sentence to a website called jpdb.io , which will show you the correct way of pronunciation and it's meaning.

However, if you're a complete beginner and you don't know what to learn first, we have you covered. Head over to our Contents page (click here). Our chapters are categorised by difficulty levels, so you know exactly where to start. And, they're also completely free. No paid content, so rest assured. Once you have mastered the basics, you will be able to focus on what's really important instead of trying to understand the pronunciation.

Now, on to the main topic. The easiest way to learn Japanese early on is to study and understand the sentence structure. Once you read enough examples (in an efficient way of course), you will have an innate feeling of how a sentence is supposed to be spoken. The good thing is that basic sentence structure can be understood very early on in your language learning journey. To be exact, by the time you complete Japanese N5, you will have a good understanding on how sentences work, which will speed up learning N4 and beyond. We have a big list of chapters on understanding sentence structures so feel free to check them out.
